When winter weather comes, most people are not extremely excited about it. No one likes the thought of shoveling snow or cleaning off the car before heading to work. But, before you become overwhelmed with all of the nasty, annoying things about winter, think of all the positives the season brings.

Think about the pleasures of cold weather and the clean, crisp winter aesthetic. Warm apple cider, beautiful scenery, snow-covered trees, and of course, the smell of the cool crisp air. Not to mention all of the outdoor snowy activities for kids to entertain themselves with.

We all dread losing precious daylight sooner. So the lighting we choose is essential if we want a cozy and inviting living space. There are a few ways you can brighten up different spaces around your home.

Adding battery or traditional scented candles will instantly add a boost of ambiance to any space. Use a decorative centerpiece to add to your coffee table in the living room or your farmhouse table in the dining room. Eucalyptus and pine are perfect for winter and fall decorating can make a beautiful centerpiece when combined with candles.

Light up the room with string lights

While most of the time we think of only using string lights outside, string or fairy lights look great draped over a window or behind sheer curtains. Lights aren't just great for Christmas decorations, they can also be great for accentuating your existing wall decor.

Choosing a soft white light bulb will give you a warm, dim light. This is of course the easiest way to add great lighting to a room. Go above and beyond by adding a nice decorative lamp to dress up your space.

We all love a fireplace and a good movie during a cold night. Add a mantel or mantel shelve around your fireplace. Tall candles and garlands are great items to enhance your mantel decor. Fireplaces not only keep you warm but are also a great focal point for your home.
