What are fall decor trends this year?

The start of fall is always bittersweet. During summer, there are so many activities available outdoors to do with the family. However, with fall comes cool, crisp air, warm drinks, and of course football! We are excited to talk about the fall trends for 2021 and give you some excellent fall decorating ideas!

If you haven't already noticed, stores are starting to put out their fall clothing and decor. Before we know it, we will hear holiday music as we shop. But for the time being, let’s focus on how to create a homey, cheerful fall-decorated home.

1. Autumn Living Room Decorating

The living room is where we spend most of our time. We enjoy watching tv, playing games, and enjoying conversations with our family and friends. So let’s talk about some great ideas to make your living room more inviting and cozy for these great moments.

Comfortable seating is always a plus in the living room, but add another comfort level by throwing in a buffalo check throw blanket. Black and white is classic and will go with just about any other color scheme. You can also use buffalo check throw pillows as well to add to the fall living room feel. Another idea to create a fall color scheme is to use fall accessories and home accents. Consider adding faux fur throws, unique table linens, and decorative pillows to your various living room ideas. Various accessories added to your decor can add just the right pop of color to accentuate any neutral colors.

2. Fall Table Decor

The other place that we spend most of our time is in the dining room. With family gatherings being a central part of fall, a decorated table is a must. Make your dining room memorable during these occasions by using a table runner or fun napkins. Add some scented candles and string lights to add warmth to the room.

Pumpkins are great for use for table decor. Get creative and carve out the middle and add flowers or utilize pumpkins of different sizes as well as both orange and white pumpkins for a festive and fun fall centerpiece. After your gathering is over, use them outside for the perfect outdoor fall decor for your front porch. Place them on a coffee table or the stairs along with your favorite fall flower. A home decorating tip to keep in mind: Try not to use only two colors when decorating. This basic color palette can sometimes make your decor look boring. Adding a third or fourth color will help balance out all the colors and complete your table arrangement.

3. Fall Decor Accents

The easiest way to decorate your home is to bring in fall accessories that give your home a cozy, homey feel. There are many inexpensive options when purchasing decorations or fall. The best part is some of the fall accents you buy can be used year after year.

One thing I always like to do is purchase a new fall wreath for my front door. A wreath adds not only a nice pop of color to the front of my house, but also it’s a lovely welcome for any family and friends that come over for a visit. For inside your home, use a fall garland for both wall decor and for fall mantle decorations.

Celebrate the season with a garland to add a pop of fall color to your space. Garland is also perfect for decorating your home, mantle, or fireplace. It brings seasonal charm and warmth to your home. And is a versatile decorating accessory that can be used at other times of the year.

Fall decor accents are not limited to just wreaths and garlands. Why not add lanterns and candles to bring some warmth to the room. Add color by using throw pillows and blankets. Finally, hanging fall wall art will help you relax and reflect on this short but beautiful season.

Tip: The nice thing about the fall accents mentioned above can also be used outdoors. Because of social distancing, you may want to have people over outside. So why not bring all of your home decor outside and create a beautiful oasis outdoors!

4. Accent Rugs for Fall

Rugs with fall colors can be the perfect addition to add spice to your room. Not only will it bring in all the colors that you need, but it will also help hide dirt and protect your beautiful flooring underneath.

The rug pictured above is appropriately named “Pumpkin Pie.” It’s a braided cotton rug with rich shades of mustard, green, rust, and olive. There are so many different rugs to choose from. If you don’t want to buy a new carpet, purchase neutral rugs or one with earth tones. Having a variety of both neutral and accent rugs will make it easy to change your decor throughout the year.
