Do you change your bedroom linens for the summer?
The first days of spring are so enjoyable. After a long cold winter, finally opening the windows and bringing some fresh air into the house is so nice. Not to forget, these cool but comfortable nights provide some of the best sleep. You are sleeping comfortably until you realize your bedroom linens are too hot for the weather.
This seems to happen to me every year. I wake up sweating not because of the temperature of the room, but because the bedding I have is too hot. Most who choose to have a down alternative comforter on the bed may layer their bed with a cotton blanket for extra warmth during the winter.
However, when the weather changes it’s a good idea to also change your bed set. For a lightweight and cozy option consider using coverlets. A coverlet is made of matalesse fabric and is pretty much right between a quilt and bedspread. It’s not considered a quilt because the weaving is different than a quilt.
You can you matalesse coverlets as an extra layer on a bed to add warmth, decoration or use them as a lightweight cover for your bed. The Boyfriend Ivory Matelasse Coverlet is very popular. The Boyfriend coverlet comes in a twin, queen, and king.
The Boyfriend Ivory coverlet and shams from Pine Cone Hill give a dimensional boost with a cozy matelassé weave. Paired with Petite Trellis shams, this inviting warm ivory bedding set softens the traditional all-white bedding look just enough to be a refreshing change.
Colorful Bedroom Linens
When spring and summer arrive not only is it a time to open up the windows but it’s a great time to add pops of color to your bedroom. You could choose to add bright decorative pillows to coordinate with your current all-season comforter set or you can decorate with a new duvet cover.
Duvet covers are great because they can easily be washed and changed out depending on how you want to decorate your bedroom. While it is common to use a duvet cover insert, it’s okay to skip the insert and only use the duvet as a lightweight cover for your bed.
The Milan duvet cover is fresh and bright with variegated and intensely hued colors in a playfully washed style. This bedding collection will get softer with each washing. Not to mention is 100% cotton and 400 thread count sateen.
The gorgeous Ines Blue Duvet cover is washed shades of blue, indigo, and charcoal on a rustic laundered linen background. These calming colors will create a peaceful night's sleep. This bedding collection also is available in a coordinating rug and lumbar pillow.
