February is boring. People are tired of the snow and cold. They are tired of bundling up to go outside and adding that extra layer of clothing. They are tired of locating tax documents and making one more pot of chili. The answer seems to be celebrating.
February may be the shortest month of the year, but is jam packed with celebrations. We start off with the Super Bowl and Ground Hog's Day. We have the Grammy's, the Oscars and Mardi Gras. There is President's Day, not to mention George Washington and Abe Lincoln's Birthdays. We have the big one, Valentine's Day, Chinese New Year and Hootie Hoo Day, which is always on February 20.
According to the folks at wellcat.com , "On this winter day, people go out at noon, wave their hands over their heads and chant "Hoodie-Hoo" It is a day to chase away winter blahs, and bring in spring. After all, everyone in the northern hemisphere are sick and tired of winter at this point and a little crazy being cooped up inside all winter and not seeing the sun."
February is American Heart Month, An Affair to Remember Month, Black History Month, Canned Food Month, Creative Romance Month, Great American Pie Month, National Cherry Month, National Children’s Dental Health Month, National Grapefruit Month and National Weddings Month to name a few.
American's seem to need a reason to celebrate, and February seems to be the perfect month to do it. So, get out there! Bake a cherry pie, romance your Valentine and celebrate, because there is nothing else to do, and of course, "Hootie-Hoo."
