Our logs come from Northern White Cedar, harvested mostly from Northern Michigan. Cedar is naturally rot and insect resistant, making it a preferred wood for use outdoors. Because we use logs that are indigenous to our country, we do not have to worry about insects or bugs coming in from other countries and affecting our eco-system.

Beware of look-alikes that are imported. Log furniture made from Chinese fir may be cheaper, but in the long run will end up being the more expensive. Chinese fir log furniture is not rot or insect resistant. In fact, imported log furniture must be chemically treated before being allowed into our country., and there is no guarantee that all bugs or larva are destroyed. The longevity of Chinese log furniture is about 1-3 years on average, whereas, log furniture made from cedar can last 10, 15, even 20 years. Which would you rather buy?
