What is your #1 goal for 2021?

2021 decor trends

With the new year starting most of us are looking for a brand new start. A new year means a new beginning with fresh goals and a new mindset for many. With several decor trends in 2021, making a goal for the perfect home is a goal that is definitely attainable.

The pandemic has caused us to think outside the box when it comes to how our spaces are being used. Our living rooms are now meetings for work on Zoom, and our offices are used as classrooms.

So how can we reclaim our space and still allow it to feel homey?

Decluttering and redecorating are two great ways that we can take back our space. With many popular decor trends for 2021, you may be tempted to reclaim your space and fall in love with your home again.

Let’s talk about some popular trends for 2020 and give you a great place to start on your decor journey.

1. Color Trends to Keep an Eye On

The Pantone color of the year is Ultimate Grey and Illuminating Yellow. If light and bright is your style then pairing these two colors together will do the trick. A nice accent wall with hues of grey will surely make a statement.

Benjamin Moore's Aegean Teal is a cool calming color that can be used to decorate any room of the house and easily color match.

The BEHR Color Trends for 2021 are pallets like “Casual Comfort”, “Calm Zone”, and our favorite “Subtle Focus”. Which includes soft gentle hues of blush pink, greens, and browns.

Choosing your color palettes will make the process much easier as you paint with purpose as well as choose the fabrics and furniture for your space. You’ll have a starting point, and you’ll begin to see how everything starts to flow together.

2. Stain Resistant Fabrics

Stain Resistant Fabrics in different colors

Stain-resistant fabrics and slipcovers will be popular this year since we are spending more time in our homes. We are sitting on our sofas and binge-watching our favorite shows more than ever, and that wear and tear can really add up on the fabric of our sofa.

Using an indoor/outdoor fabric for your slipcover will make your sofa lasts longer and stay in good condition over time. Just simply throw your slipcover in the washing machine and you have a clean fresh sofa.

3. Printed Fabrics

There are certain prints that never go out of style. Plaid is one of those timeless fabrics. It can add to a calm and relaxing atmosphere.

Some plaid prints include buffalo check, buffalo plaid, gingham, and tartan. Incorporate plaid in your home by decorating with throw blankets, pillows, and table decor.

4. Cottagecore Style

This of course is one of our favorite decor styles. Stressful times call for a place where we can go to retreat and relax. Cottage style does just that for your space. Once again, this decor style has become more popular during the quarantine.

Imagine this room: Soft tones, pine furniture, and nostalgic elements from the past, with a touch of bold colors and florals. Put that all together and you've completed the look of Cottage Core.

5. Modern Country

Modern Country is another popular decor trend on the rise. With its mix of old and new with a touch of industrial elements like Industrial Tolix Style Chairs. Metal accents like copper, gold, and silver are often seen in the modern country decor style.

The difference between modern and traditional country is that traditional country includes distressed furniture, and fabric prints with animals like roosters, while the modern country style does not have those elements.

Decor trends are a nice pattern to follow, but your home decor should express who you are and what you like. After all, you are the one that will be the one benefiting the most from your decorating.
